Johnny Almond's sax solo
as transcribed by Bruce John
from the Album 'TURNING POINT'
by John Mayall

I'm hoping that some of you keen saxophone players out there will give me the benefit of your wisdom and let me know where I have gone wrong with this. I know I have made some mistakes [there is an unwanted extra note in bar 56 for example] and there are shortcomings in my knowledge of writing notation and in my ability to get 'Logic v4.7' to do what it's supposed to do [I'm not sure how to write trills with the Bb key, either]. Most of the notes are correct, though, and you are welcome to download it and use it.
My only reason for putting this track on 'GEMS' is my love for this solo, which has all the ingredients [architecture, shape, narrative etc.] that make an improvisation great, and, needless to say, it is Johnny Almond's version that should be referenced by this transcription. Johnny Almond played it on the Alto [concert key ofGminor] but I play it on the tenor in the concert key of Dminor which puts it in the same saxophone key [Eminor]

I have found that if you set your printer to 110% it will stretch it out to full page. I am still working on improving the print quality - without increasing download time!
