WELCOME TO BRUCE JOHN'S WEBSITE

LAST UPDATED : 7/4/2006

Good Day Websurfers! I'm glad you could make it, for the table of delights has been laid [well, most of the goodies are there anyway]; and for your pleasure and fascination we have a veritable feast of sound and vision.

"GEMS" is the reason for this website, and as we know, gems take a very long time to form, under enormous pressure, in the deepest darkest regions; only coming to light after much chipping, picking and scraping away in the dank and foetid gloom - such is my excuse, at any rate, for taking so long over getting this CD together! However, finished it now is, and you can explore the musical range and flavours of the CD by clicking on the gallery in the menu, where you will not only see the musicians who have made this project possible, but will also be able to hear them play - yes, webfolks, sound and vision together! I can scarce contain myself, but there it is, for your delectation, a flurry of interactive delights! To hear the music in the gallery you do not need an mp3 player, but you do need the FLASH plug-in - which is embedded in most browsers. If you do not hear any music in the gallery you may not have this plug-in [or you haven't turned on your speakers!]. Click on the Flash icon in the navigation menu to obtain the plug-in.

There is just one small problem with the quality of the audio files in the gallery- it is not hi-fi standard. This is because the audio files have to be relatively small in order to do it this way. Having said that, it is not awful and the clips can give you an idea of the musical range. Until we all have broadband this compression of the audio files has to be endured

If you click on the saxophone in the little picture to the left, another box will pop up; and if you wait a few seconds the sound of Bruce John's horn will waft through your room. This is what happens with all the action pics in the gallery. All the musicians are now there, save for Phil [harmonica] and J.J. [guitar], whose photos have got lost in the post! So keep on looking in to see how things are progressing.

Downloads in mp3 format, of all the tracks on GEMS, can be found in the music page. In due course various items of music [that are not on GEMS the CD] will appear in the music page, and will be downloadable for free. Some of these tracks will be original; some might be our versions of favourite numbers; but they will be free, gratis, and for nothing! As for GEMS, we have decide on a price of £8 - which means a total of £9.50, including p&p. However, if you live in the British Isles and/or have a Sterling bank account, you can get my address by E-mailing me, and I will send you a copy for £8.50 incl.p&p. This method is cheaper because there are no credit card charges, VAT, or commisions to pay. It's also slower because cheques have to be cleared before anything can be sent out - if you pay by credit card you'll get the CD in a couple of days.

If you click on CD in the menu you will see THE MONA LIZ - the portrait I am using for the front cover of the booklet; and below this you will see the blurb I have written on the other side. Next to THE MONA LIZ is a list of the song titles [nothing happens if you click on these - it's just a list]

As for the links page - I'm planning to amass the largest collection of right-on, politically correct web addresses you're likely to find on the net [plus some interesting fun ones as well, of course!]. If you know I have missed some, please enlighten me.
